From set design to permanent spaces… from music videos to Michelin-starred restaurants.

Jason Volenec is the founder and principal of Volenec Studio, an interior design practice with offices in New York City and Bangkok and projects across the globe. He began his career in the music video and commercial industry, working in art direction and specialty props fabrication, where he developed an eye for narrative-driven environments and the theatrical storytelling that still defines his work today. Disillusioned with the ephemerality of set design — entire worlds built and struck within days — he sought a discipline where the same scenographic instincts could be applied to spaces meant to last, and transitioned into hospitality design.

Volenec Studio has since shaped a portfolio of internationally celebrated bars, lounges, restaurants, and nightclubs — from fine dining venues to DJ-forward listening lounges — with globally renowned projects in cities including New York, London, Dubai, and Palm Beach. Jason approaches each project as a distinct creative organism, believing every space has its own DNA and that the designer's role is to listen first — to the operating partner, the building, and the cultural context — and let the project reveal what it wants to be, rather than overlaying preconceived ideas onto it.
